Plain-language explanation of the automated systems Sakinah uses to keep the community safe — this document is NOT final and Sakinah is NOT accepting real users until counsel signs off (build spec §9).
Every message sent on Sakinah passes through an automated safety check before it's treated as ordinary conversation. The system is looking for a narrow set of things: harassment or abuse, sexual solicitation, attempts to move you off-platform (a common precursor to scams), and spam. It is not reading your conversation for content, tone, or anything else — it exists so that people who violate the community's norms can be caught quickly, and so every member can trust that this is a marriage-intentioned space, not an open chat app.
Messages that trip one of these checks are routed to a small human review queue. A person looks at the flagged message — not your whole conversation history — and decides whether a warning, suspension, or ban is warranted. Most conversations are never seen by a human at all.
This review exists for your safety and the safety of everyone you might match with. It is a condition of using Sakinah and cannot be turned off while you have an account.

Flagged-message logs are kept for 30 days and then purged — to be confirmed with counsel before launch, same as noted in the Privacy Policy.
To help keep profiles real, Sakinah asks every member to complete a one-time liveness selfie check. That check is performed entirely by Persona, a third-party identity-verification provider — the selfie itself, and any biometric measurements derived from it, are processed on Persona's systems, not Sakinah's.
This is why we ask for your consent to biometric processing specifically: a face-liveness check is, by definition, a form of biometric data processing, even though Sakinah never sees or stores the image. We ask up front, in plain language, rather than burying it in a longer document.
Sakinah receives only a pass/fail result and an inquiry reference from Persona — never the selfie, never a biometric template. For how long Persona itself retains verification data on its side, see Persona's own privacy disclosures (we will link theirs here once finalized).
Sakinah is built around religious practice: your sect, how you practice, and related preferences are core to how matching works here. We treat that information as sensitive by design — more carefully handled than an ordinary profile field.
We do not sell your religious information, or any other personal data, to anyone. Ever. It is used only to run Sakinah's matching and safety systems, and to show it to people you might be compatible with — nothing more.
